Today I made a difference by recycling pop cans. This made a difference because recycling leads to less garbage and it is less wasteful. If everyone in the world recycled instead of throwing things out, our environment would be healthier.
I made $13.20, and I donated it to Suneel’s Light. Suneel is a boy about my age who has Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. His organization is working for a cure. At first, I thought about donating to the Salvation Army, but then I thought about my friend Kristen and her role in Suneel’s life. Kristen is Suneel’s tutor and friend. She also helps with Suneel’s Light. One thing that you can do to help fight MD and support Suneel is to use Good Search as your web search engine rather than things like Google. 25 Days to Make a Difference 
What an awesome thing to do! I’m sure that to some people $13.20 is not even enough money for lunch, but if we all recycled $13.20 worth of cans this week and donated the money we made, it would add up to a lot!
Today we worked at shoveling more of the 8-inches of snow off our neighbor’s driveway. She is out of town and we hope we can get the last of it finished tomorrow morning before she gets back.
I think we’re going to try the rice word game tomorrow! We homeschool so it can count as education, too! Yipee!

Thank you for telling us about Good Search. Laura, I’m the recycling coordinator for the junior high where I work, and one of things I’m doing right now is running a series of announcements in our school’s daily bulletin on how kids can have a more eco-friendly holiday season. I just thought I’d share that in case you have announcements at your school–maybe you could share your recycling idea with them. What I did to make a difference yesterday was participate at freerice.com. I see Lillian’s going to try it–I think she’ll enjoy it! 🙂
